Cooking class 3: Roll Beef Noodle

Cooking class is one of the most exciting activities run by LST. The last class was hold on Thursday 20th July and our lesson was to cook a Vietnamese traditional dishes called “Rice Noodles Rolls”. This dishes is quite familiar with Vietnamese people but this was the 1st time that interns had enjoys the roll.  Ms Lan Phuong, Mr. Hiep and I was responsible on that day. We started the class later than the schedule due to bad weather L it rained heavily but finally, all interns had came ^^.

Before cooking, Ms. Phuong introduced some ingredients for the dishes

Everyone listened with high concentration to Ms. Phuong’s explanation

Firstly, we had to deal with beef , sliceed the beef thinly, aromatized the beef with “hạt nêm”, oyster sauce, onion, pepper for about 30 minutes to spice up the flavor. Then heated the cooking oil, put Western onions into, stired the beef until it was well done, poured the beef into a clean bowl.

After that we made the sauce for the rolls. Then the final step was to spread a noodle sheet above a tray, put fresh vegetable and beef above the noodle sheet then tightly roll up the sheet. It seems to be difficult with interns but anyway everyone looked so excited and satisfied with their creative work J

So now let me introduced a rice roll plate made by interns after practicing some hours A It’s unbelievable that they can make so great rolls like these ^^ w0w !

Cooking class 2: BBQ Noodle

During this week, many LSTers had had final exams at the university; therefore, the cooking class 2 met many obstacle relating to venue and time. However, the cooking class 2 was still successfully held in Ms. Phuong's house with the meal of BBQ Noodle - one of the best traditional dishes in Hanoi.

Interns had the experiences of how to choose the type of pork suitable for BBQ Noodle. Besides, interns could join into the preparation phase by grilling the BBQ by themselves. In addition, they also learned how to make sauce used with BBQ noodle: what was the rate of water : sugar : vinegar : fish sauce.

Finally, after having interesting time preparing for BBQ Noodle, we had a really good meal with interns and LSTers.

Cooking Class 1: Spring Roll

Have you heard about "Spring Roll"? It is one of the most delicious traditional food of Vietnam. Therefore, in the first lesson of cooking class, LSTer decided to teach interns how to make spring roll.

News:

- The chef Mr. Quan changed to chef assistant with Tam. New main chef: Ms. Phuong

- The dish in the first plan was not "pork spring roll" but "vegetable spring roll" and "mixed fried rice". However, Quan did not know how to do it, so the meal for this class changed into "pork spring roll" and "french fried" or fried potato.

- Eden had team meeting so she could not join the cooking class

There were many people joining the cooking class, and we had 2 members from X-team who were Mieu and Ngoc Anh. Ngoc Anh helped a lot by cleaning out the potato skin and cutting the potato into pieces. Mieu and Hiep had a very important position which was taking photos and filming.
Although it was the first class, interns had chance to experience their cooking skill by involving in the cooking steps. However, they had better improve some of the skills like: slice carrot (carrot was too big), and rolling the spring roll (the spring rolls size were not the same).

In general, we had a very very good meal with spring rolls made by Joe, Maggie, and Stella; and french fried made from Phuong and Ngoc Anh.

Now, let's enjoy with our cooking class 1!!!!
